If you want to increase the size of Taskbar Thumbnail preview in Windows 7 than you have to be ready to mess up with your registry. This is how the default taskbar thumbnail preview looks.

Increase the size of Taskbar Thumbnail preview
- Open Regedit (Press Win + R > type Regedit > press Enter)
- Navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ Taskband - Create a DWORD named MaxThumbSizePx
- Right click MaxThumbSizePx and select Modify. Set its decimal value to say, 400. (Best would be any value from 300 – 350)
- Exit the Registry Editor.
- Logoff and login back.
And you will see the change at taskbar thumbnails as it has grown bigger in size. Here is the sweet view of my Taskbar Thumbnail Preview after editing my registry settings.

Change Taskbar Thumbnail Preview to Text only preview
This trick will give you the cool way to showcase your Taskbar Thumbnail.
- Open Regedit (Press Win + R > type Regedit > press Enter)
- Navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ Taskband - Create a DWORD named MaxThumbSizePx
- Right click MaxThumbSizePx and select Modify. Set its decimal value to 1.
- Exit the Registry Editor.
- Logoff and login back.
This is how your taskbar Thumbnail preview will look after applying this setting.
