This post is a part of QnA series which Rahul Bakshi asked – “Sir, I wanted to know that what should I do when I receive a mail that someone has unsubscribed from my blog.”
We feel very proud and gleam with joy when our feed subscribers increases, we feel proud to say that I have blah number of feed subscriber who daily visits my website. But every coin has 2 faces, if someone joins you blog today than there is always a possibility that someone can unsubscribe from your blog today. Subscribing and Unsubscribing totally depends on the visitor, but it can be to some extent controlled by us.

We do a lot of work to increase our subscribers count, like the simplest way to increase the subscribers count is to organize a giveaway and ask your visitor to subscribe to your blog if they want to enter the giveaway. And this is the most successful to get a lot of subscribers to your blog. Well this is the simplest way but there are other ways too like writing series of tutorial and yeah not to mention the most successful wordpress plugin which helps in increasing the feed subscribers – The WP Greet Box Plugin.
So what to do?
For some blogger’s it really doesn’t matters if someone unsubscribes to their blog unless there is a continuous decline rate in their feed subscribers. But for whom it matters may be the following method will help you to get back them or the best not to lose them at all. This method is helpful for me and may help you too, currently I have 239 feed subscribers and till now I have lost 19 subscribers, but regained 14 of them within some hours only.
My Method Of Getting By Reader Back: Whenever you get the email that someone has unsubscribed to your blog your first step must be to email him telling about what he is going to lose, like if you were about to organize a contest or are going to write a tutorial series than talk about it. Next Give him 2 sets of links i.e. 10 Most Popular posts and 10 Most Commented Post. And at the end, this is most important part of your mail, add a Subscription link of your blog. And ask him to click on it to resubscribe again.
If possible create an email draft in the way I mentioned above and save it and whenever you receive any un-subscription email send it to the one who unsubscribed.
Once again as I said most people don’t really care about it, but this is for those who cares. Is there anything you do to gain back your reader?
