Now downloading a Bollywood movie will not be easy and not to mention if you do so you may found yourself being prosecuted for the same. Taking a big turn against Piracy now Bollywwood film-makers are using technology to fight against Piracy.
Aamir Khan’s 3 Idiots was the first film to do so, and now the makers of Housefull are using the same anti-piracy software to track down film pirates and those who download movies illegally from Internet.
Quick fix
Called Republique, the software has been developed by a company called Geodefic and is now activated. The software was activated on Wednesday night and work all over the world. Says Housefull director Sajid Khan, “Since the film releases in some parts on a Wednesday we want to start tracking pirates immediately.”
Tracking ‘em down
Khan explains how it works, “It’s the first of its kind anti downloading piracy network software. The hub will be in Mumbai and I have employed 35 people who will be tracking users who try to download Housefull. The technique is simple as the software will identify the IP address of the person trying to download the movie. Once we have the IP, it’s only a matter of time before someone knocks on their door and holds them accountable.” – Source
The results are yet to be made public, it would be interesting to see to how many percentage it has affected the Piracy Industry. What’s your take on this?

I don’t think this software can stop piracy. I just downloaded the movie housefull yesterday

Yeah just heard about it by Sajid Khan on an interview with Zoom Tv’s editor.
This will never work. It’s the same as in the UK or the US. IP addresses aren’t real proof that a specific person used the computer reponsible for download.
Hec, I’m on a friends network right now and if I was to download a film the IP address would register back to him but he would have no knowledge.
This is a deeply flawed method and they should be relying on more than just an IP address for prosecutions. Any good lawyer would be able to wrangle their client out of charges based upon an IP address.
Clearly, Sajid Khan has no knowledge whatsoever on the subject. No prosecutor would base an arrest on a mere IP address. Especially not because of, what, one movie? An IP address isn’t even solid evidence of piracy! I’m usually supporting Bollywood movies by purchasing them, but this one I will download. I will download it, and I will spread it. Without even watching it myself. All because I hate it when ignorant idiots like Mr. Khan preach about things they do not understand at all.
I so agree wid you @konaya…I fail to understand how is it possible to search for the same speific video/footage over this vast internet and so many diffrnt formats and stop it…clearly ppl who are claiming have no clue about wht they are talking!!
