When creating iPhone 4, Apple designers and engineers didn’t start with a clean sheet of paper. They started with three years of experience designing and building the phones (iPhone 3G and 3GS) that redefined what a phone can do. iPhone 4 is the result of everything they’ve learned so far. And it’s all contained in a beautiful enclosure a mere 9.3 millimeters thin, making iPhone 4 the world’s thinnest smartphone.
So what’s new?
This time Apple had made some really good improvements in theIphone making its world smallest smartest smartphone.
Engineered Glass
All the breakthrough technology in iPhone 4 is situated between two glossy panels of aluminosilicate glass — the same type of glass used in the windshields of helicopters and high-speed trains. Chemically strengthened to be 20 times stiffer and 30 times harder than plastic, the glass is ultradurable and more scratch resistant than ever. It’s also recyclable.
Retina display
The Retina display on iPhone 4 is the sharpest, most vibrant, highest-resolution phone screen ever, with four times the pixel count of previous iPhone models. In fact, the pixel density is so high that the human eye is unable to distinguish individual pixels. Which makes text amazingly crisp and images stunningly sharp.
Multitasking
iPhone 4 introduces a whole new way of multitasking. Now you can run your favorite third-party apps — and switch between them instantly — without slowing down the performance of the foreground app or draining the battery unnecessarily. When I saw it during WWDC 2010 where Steve Jobs demoed it, I was like wow! The retina display and engineering glass that is said to be super duper strong will make it stand out! And again, lets don’t forget its iPhone!
What smartphone should a first time buyer get?

I had a play with an iPhone 4 for the first time in the Apple store last week and I am well impressed. For me the screen is just superb. I think it’s a little less comfortable to hold than the 3GS but the looks more than make up for it. Interesting to read about the engineered glass – it’s got to be better than the plastic casings used in the past which could scratch quite badly.
