Indian Rupee now have a symbol

On July 15th, The Indian Cabinet has announced Indian Rupee Symbol, here how it looks like :

The new symbol has created by IIT Bombay alumnus D Udaya Kumar. The new symbol is a blend of the Devanagari “?” ( Ra) and the Roman capital “R” without the stem. The symbol will be first sent to Unicode Consortium’s technical committee, in order to include the same in Unicode database. The symbol will also be included in the Indian Standards, viz. 13194:1991 – Indian Script Code for Information Interchange (ISCII), through an amendment to the existing list by the Bureau of Indian Standards. If we believe the rumors than Mr. Kumar may have a got a prize money of 50k or more from the state Govt. plus he is expected to get some more from the central Govt. What a LUCK huh!
