Yes, that’s true, Microsoft Windows 7 64-bit is the most used operating system around the globe if we talk about Windows 7 32-bit and Windows 7 64-bit.
46 percent of all computers running Windows 7 are using the 64-bit edition, said Microsoft. That is, nearly half of all PCs running Windows 7 are running 64-bit.
The major benefit to running a 64-bit OS is that it can address more memory. A 32-bit version of Windows can see only up to 4GB of RAM, and effectively use only around 3GB, since that extra gigabyte is reserved. A 64-bit OS can theoretically address around 17 billion gigabytes of RAM. In the real world, though, the more expensive and advanced versions of 64-bit Windows 7 can handle up to 192GB, while the lower-end editions are more limited.
Essentially, 64-bit Windows allows your PC to take advantage of more memory to do more things. If you are like me and are running tons of apps, you can see a real difference in performance. Aside from the performance gains, there are also security enhancements and support for virtualization as well.

The title of the article is wrong-the 32bit is the most used at 54% vs. 46%
Woooops that was big mistake
The trend is to move on to 64 bit but there are problems with hardware support. I also own a 64 bit processor and my system works fine with Vista 64 bit but doesn’t work well with 64 bit Windows 7. I’d waiting for the 64 bit drivers for my system.
Not to mention the shortage of true native 64bit software. What’s up with the Dev.’s? My 32bit Win7 Pro on my Lenovo notebook runs smoother and faster than Win7 Ultimate 64bit on my custom desktop, which has far superior hardware.Face it guys, with the exception of a very few programs, you’re just running in “compatibility mode”,so what’s the point? Yeah,I know 64bit supports more Ram,but when you’re not even utilizing the 4 Gigs you have(in my case),where’s this “big performance gain”? Definitely not seeing it here-quite the opposite actually!
Even I’m one among its users. I love Windows 7!
But did anyone notice how the difference in market share between a 32 bit and 64 bit Windows has been shrinking with the progress in the OS versions? With Win 7, the share is almost equal (with 46% using 64 bit and 54% using the 32 bit counterpart). I think once Win 8 is released, it will mark the slow demise of the 32 bit computing…
I love Windows 7 and I’m using the 32 bit version but I’d like to switch to the 64bit one
Amazing share, no doubt, Windows 7 is the best operating system.
THANKS
Actually, the only real advantage of using 64-bit is the ability of using 4GB ram or more.F or the average Joe, they won’t see much of a difference.
window 7 64 bit doesnt make much of a difference. take forever to boot up, slow my system proformence and doesn’t even all the driver supported that screw it up even more. resently installed it but got so sick of it i have to restore back to 32 bit win 7
