If you have a COMPAQ laptop with Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit installed on it and using Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 and VmWare workstation then you might be facing the issue of AutoPlay not starting automatically. For many users it works fine while some users don’t see any AutoPlay as soon as an external device is connected. Below are some possible problems and solutions to this problem:

1. Settings Problem:

  1. Go to CONTROL PANEL > ALL CONTROL PANEL ITEMS > AUTOPLAY
  2. Adjust settings and click on SAVE button.

2. Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 Problem:

Mostly this problem arises due to Kaspersky Internet Security 2010. This is because unless, Kaspersky is told what to do about a scan, it will not let you proceed. In order to start AutoPlay automatically, you will be required to turn off this feature in Kaspersky. Follow below steps:

    1. Go to MY PROTECTION > FILES AND PRIVATE DATA
    2. Go to FILE ANTI-VIRUS > SCAN MY COMPUTER
    3. On the right side, there will be some options.
    4. Select the option DO NOT SCAN

NOTE: If you turn off this feature then your system will have an increased risk of malware infection.
