How to change background in Windows 7 Home Premium?

A common problem with Windows 7 Home Premium is that the desktop background does not changes even after selecting a new background and saving changes for it. Getting no error message makes it difficult for many users to resolve this issue. Below are some simple solutions to this problem:

Personalization:

  1. Right click on desktop and go to PERSONALIZE
  2. Go to DESKPTOP BACKGROUND link. This will open a new window with wallpapers.
  3. Select any of available wallpapers or browse the one you desire.
  4. Click on SAVE CHANGES button.

Windows Blinds:

  1. Go to Stardock website and download WINDOWS BLINDS program.
  2. Installing and running this application will resolve your problem.

Driver:

  1. Download sp45575.exe from ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp45501-46000/sp45575.exe
  2. Run the driver and restart your PC.

Registry Change:

  1. Go to RUN>Regedit.exe
  2. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\system
  3. Delete the keys for Wallpaper and WallpaperStyle

Note: Do remember to create System Restore Point or take Registry backup.
