Windows 7 is a popular Operating System due to its great look and feel. It is pre-installed on many new computers and comes with a default profile. Changing user profile on Windows 7 is a bit complicated and therefore users look for ways to customize it. Below steps will help you customize the default profile of Windows 7 easily.
Customizing Windows 7 Default Profile:
- First of all create a local user account. Do not grant any administrative rights to it.
- Login with above-created account.
- Tweak the desktop and other applications as per your requirements.
- Restart the computer.
- Now map the machine’s local drive from some other computer.
- Make a copy of original profile. Rename it as ‘Default Profile (Original)’.
- Finally, copy contents of original profile (Step 2) and paste it to Default User Profile.
- Now, every user that logs on to computer will get the tweaked profile.
Resolving the Permission Errors:
Many users face permission errors even though they have the Owner rights. This issue is due to SID whereby System just grants a temporary profile and allows copying of some data not all.
In order to resolve this issue, you need a legal copy of Windows Vista. Upgrading an image of Windows XP to Windows Vista and then upgrading to Windows 7 will allow you to customize the default user profile from Windows XP to Windows 7.
