Gadgets are amongst one of the important as well as popular features in Windows 7. However, sometimes users face the issue of gadgets not working. Below solutions will help you troubleshoot this problem:

Solution 1:

1. Set the UAC back to its default level or to 1 at least.
2. Install Windows 7 Gadgets.

Solution 2:

1. Open System File Checker (SFC.EXE)
2. Run it and determine the file that is causing the issue.
3. Replace the file

Solution 3:

1. Go to the Users application area (C:\Users\MyUser\AppData\Local\Microsoft\)
2. Delete the folder WINDOWS SIDEBAR. If it does not allow deleting then follow below steps
   1. Go to Control Panel > Program And Features > Turn Windows Features On or Off
   2. Turn OFF the WINDOWS GADGET PLATFORM and Restart PC
   3. Delete the WINDOWS SIDEBAR folder and Turn ON the WINDOWS GADGET PLATFORM
3. Install Windows 7 Gadgets.

Solution 3:

1. Go to Task Manager > PROCESSES
2. Right click on SIDEBAR.EXE and click on END PROCESS
3. Open REGEDIT and delete the key for HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\
4. Restart SIDEBAR.EXE

Solution 4:

1. Open REGEDIT

2.    Go to HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\

3.    If there is a small graphic subkey between \Zones and 0 then delete it.

4.    Restart your PC.
