It is very easy to change or remove the Tooltip of Windows Start button. To achieve this task, you will need a utility named as “Resource Hacker”. You can download it from http://download.cnet.com/Resource-Hacker/3000-2352_4-10178587.html
Steps:
- Go to “C:\windows\en-US”. If you are using 64 bit operating system then go to “C:\Windows\syswow64\en-US”
- Make a copy of “explorer.exe.mui” to some safe place
- Open “Resource Hacker” and locate the “explorer.exe.mui” where you copied it.
- Now go to the “String Table” and click on “34”.
- Modify the text in double quotes or delete the following line:
533, “Some text will be here”
- Click on “Compile Script” button.
- Click on “Action” in menu bar and then on “Update All Resources”.
- Save the file and close the “Resource Hacker”.
- Rename the original “explorer.exe.mui” file and copy the modified file in your en-US folder.
- Reboot your system.
