How to install Windows 7 by creating a Multiboot System?

A Multiboot system allows Windows 7 to be installed to the system along with any version of existing windows. Initially you need to check for the available partition that does not contain any system files of the existing Windows.

The selected partition can either be a separate space on the current disk or a new disk. A separate space can also be added on the existing disk by using software tools to shrink the data and creating a new partition in the available space.Windows 7 can also be installed even if the new partition is not completely empty, provided it doesn’t contain the system files.

Steps:

Follow below steps to proceed with the installation of Windows 7.

  • Run Setup program.
  • Select the Custom option.
  • Choose the partition you want to use for the new installation.

The setup program handles the details of adding newly installed operating system automatically to the Boot Configuration Data (BCD) store.

Inserting Windows 7 DVD and typing “D:\Boot\Bootsect.exe -NT52 ALL” in the command prompt will remove Windows 7 and restore the Windows XP boot loader.
