How to make User-Mode Process Dump Files in Windows 7 and Windows Vista?

The error feature in Windows 7 and Windows Vista normally creates mini-dump-files. In this article we will show you some simple steps for creating user mode process dump files.

Windows Vista:

  • Right click on the empty space of Taskbar.
  • Go to “Task Manger” in the context menu and click on the tab for “Processes”.
  • Right-click on the process for which you want to create a dump file.
  • Select “Create Dump File” from the context menu.
  • Dump file will be created on following location “[Drive]:\Users\[UserName]\AppData\Local\Temp”
  • Click on OK button.

Windows 7:

  • Repeat the same process given above in Windows 7 to create the user mode process dump files.

Note: Make sure that you have enough free space available on the [Drive] on which you are creating dump file.
