In this article we will show you how to reduce the shutdown time for your system. Normally system takes too long to shutdown and by using this technique; you can always shutdown your system very quickly. Following are the steps that should be performed:
Steps:
- Press Window + R, write “regedit” in the RUN dialogue and press Enter. Or you can you can type “regedit” in the start menu search bar and press Enter.
- Now go to the following location “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control”.
- Double click on the registry key “WaitToKillServiceTimeout”.
- By default the time will be “20000”. Change it to 5000.
- Press OK.
Note: Before making any changes to registry, it is safe to make the backup of your registry. Another important note is not to set the value too low or you may loss some data during shutdown.
