In this article we will discuss a common HDD issue with Windows 7 64x computers whereby USB to ATA/ATAPI bridge installation is failed. In such case
If your PC’s initial screen freezes at startup and does not pass through it then follow below steps:
- Unplug any externally attached HDD.
- Change primary boot to CD.
If PC does not recognize HDD after plugging it back then
- Go to Device Manager
- Uninstall USB Mass Storage Device and USB Drive from Disk Drives
- Unplug it and plug it back.
- Restart with the HDD plugged in.
If none of these solutions work then
- Check the jumper on that drive and make sure that it is set to MASTER. Moreover, give it a whirl.
- If this solution does not work the set the jumper to CABLE SELECT
- Go to MY COMPUTER > MANAGE > DISK MANAGEMENT and initialize the drivers.
