Many times people want to keep using the old Windows Mail instead of instead of Windows Live Mail. This is because of its simple interface. Following instructions should be followed to use Windows Mail in Windows 7:
Instructions:
- Get the copy of “Windows Mail” folder from Windows Vista
- Rename the “Windows Mail” folder to “Windows Mail Old”
- Paste the “Windows Mail” folder to the location of “Windows Mail” folder found in Windows 7
- Export following registry branches from Windows Vista
“mailto”
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\mailto]
“eml”
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\eml_auto_file]
And in the last
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Applications\WinMail.exe]
- Now import these keys in Windows 7 Registry
- After that, right click on the WinMail.exe and pin it to task bar
- Import your IAF backup files and restore them in Windows Mail
