How to terminate Not Responding Programs in Windows?

All the Windows operating systems developed by Microsoft are developed with best features. Sometimes while using Windows, the application you are working upon freezes. This happens when you open multiple applications at once or give the computer different commands at once. The application gets stuck and is simply entitled as Not Responding.

As its solution what we normally do is to identify the process in the task manager and terminate the process. There is another solution to this problem which is even easier. It consists of just two steps.

  • Right click anywhere on desktop. Click New to create a new shortcut.
  • Create shortcut window will appear and prompt you to type location. Type the following location in its location field
taskkill.exe /f /fi "status eq not responding"

So from now onwards whenever you experience a Not Responding application, double click the shortcut. The operating system will automatically identify the Not Responding application and close it. You can further customize this shortcut by changing its icon. You can also allocate any shortcut key to quickly launch this shortcut.

This solution works perfectly for Windows XP Professional and all versions of Windows 7 and Windows Vista but it is not supported by Windows XP Home.
