Notepad is the text editor for Windows. Every version of windows till now accompanies it. It has gone through very less evolution. It is very old, still many people don’t know about its hidden features. Here is a list of five interesting features of Notepad.exe.
- Automatic date and time can be inserted into notepad document by pressing the F5 key or go to Edit and click the option of time/Date to insert it.
- The reading order can be switched from right to left by right clicking in the document and selecting the option of Right To Left Reading Order.
- Every time you open a file, you can opt to insert the timestamp. To do this, create a new file in notepad and insert .LOG on the first line. Now whenever you will open a file, notepad will insert the timestamp automatically on the next line.
- You can also create header and footer in the notepad. Go to File and click Page Setup. It will contain options of header and footer. Enter any information that you want to be displayed in header and footer.
- In the Notepad document, you can directly go to a particular line. To do this, click Edit and select Go To or simply press CTRL G. Remember to turnoff the option of Word Wrap, otherwise it will not work.
