How to assign Full Control and Owner Ship of Files/Folders in Windows?

In this article we will show you how to take the ownership and full control of any file or folder in Windows. Following are the steps:

Owner Ship:

  1. Right click on the folder you want to take the ownership
  2. Click on “Properties”
  3. Click on “Security” tab
  4. Click on the “Advanced” button in the bottom
  5. Click on the “Owner” tab
  6. Now click on the “Edit” button in the bottom
  7. In the “Advance Security Settings” window, click on the user name or click on the “Other users or groups…” to select other user
  8. Click OK
  9. Finally click OK to exit from “Properties” window

Full Control:

  1. Repeat the steps 1 – 3 from above process
  2. Click on “Edit” button
  3. In the “Permission for…” window, select the “Administrator” or any other user you want to assign the full control. If it is not shown there, you can add them by pressing “Add” button
  4. Now click on the check box in front of “Full Control”
  5. Click on OK twice
