In Windows 7, drive letter for hard drives, DVD ROMs or USB drives are set automatically as the devices are being installed. If you are having any issue with those letters or want to assign customized letters, then windows 7 has in-built option of changing drive letters. You can change all the letters except A which is reserved by Windows for floppy disk.
To change the hard drive letter in Windows 7, follow the given options.
- Click the Start Menu orb. Right click the option of Computer and select the option of Manage.
- From the left column of Computer Management, Press the option of Storage Disk and click Disk Management
- Right click the drive letter to be changed and select the option of Change Drive Letter and Paths…
- Choose the drive letter you want to change and press the Change button.
- A dialog box will appear. Assign the drive letter from the drop down menu and choose the new drive letter.
- Press OK. This will assign the new drive letter to the drive.
