- Press the Windows 7 start menu, type notepad in the search box and hit the Enter key.
- Type or copy and paste the following commands in the Notepad:
- Save the file with the name of addownership.reg.
- Right-click the file and click on Merge.
- A warning dialog box will prompt you. Click Yes to confirm.
- Now whenever you want to access any system file, right-click it and select Take Ownership. After taking the ownership, you can do anything to the file.
