Use VHD Files to Evaluate Windows 7

Windows 7 is one of the most admired operating systems. One of the unique feature it carries is it allows users to evaluate it as a virtual machine. Microsoft has provided pre-configured virtual files that can be imported to Microsoft server 2008 Hyper-V virtual server platform.

Follow the given steps to know how to use the Windows 7 installation package.

  • Download the package of preconfigured Windows 7 evaluation VHD.
  • Unzip the image. Accept the license terms.
  • Unzip the three downloaded files. Press the install button.
  • Go to start menu and select Hyper-V Manager.
  • In hyper-V manager, select Actions > Import Virtual Machine.
  • Browse to the Windows7Fullx86ENT90Days/Windows7Fullx86ENT90Days through the Import Virtual Machine.
  • Tap the Select Folder button.
  • In Import Virtual Machine, click the Import button.
  • This will show the Evaluation Virtual Machine of Windows 7 on your list of virtual machines.
  • Select the virtual machine of Windows7Fullx86ENT90Days. Right-click and hit the Start button.
  • Go to the Context menu and select Connect. This will connect to the Windows7Fullx virtual machine.
  • It will start the setup process. The process is really simple and just required you to follow simple prompts.
