Change the Logon Background in Windows 7

Windows 7 is loaded with several beautiful backgrounds for logon screen. You can follow the following process to have a custom background for the logon screen.

  • Tap the start menu. Type regedit in search box and press the enter key. It will open the Registry Editor window.
  • Navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Authentication\LogonUI\Background

 

  • Find OEMBackground in the right panel of the Registry Editor.
  • Double click OEMBackground. Type 1 in the field of value data.
  • Similarly, navigate the following path in the Registry Editor.

 

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System

 

  • If you do not find the key, then create a new key. Right click on window and select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value.
  • Name the key as UseOEMBackground. Now double click it and change the value data from 0 to 1.
  • Rename the image you want to use as backgroundDefault.jpg and save it inĀ  C:\Windows\System32\oobe\info\backgrounds

If you do not find the info and background folders, then simply create a new folder and name it info. Inside that folder, create another new folder and name it as backgrounds.
