Microsoft Active Directory Topology Diagrammer is an amazing free tool debuted recently by Microsoft. The application is very useful for automatic mapping. It can read the configuration of active directory via ActiveX Data Objects (ADO) and produce a detailed diagram in Microsoft Visio. The diagram will show the active directory environment of your PC.
Besides active directory environment, this tool can also be used for mapping of other applications such as Microsoft Exchange 200X configuration/server topology, administrative groups, routing groups, servers, connectors and sites.
The tool is very simple and self-explanatory. Here are few introductory steps that will guide you how to use this tool.
- Go through all the tabs and pick the items for which you want to create reports.
- In the text box of server, type the name of AD Domain Controller and tap the Discover button. Do select the exchange button before tapping the Discover button.
- Finally, press the Draw button. It will start Microsoft Visio and create all your selected topology figures.
