Increase Attachment Size Limit in Outlook 2010

You may or may not know that attachment size limit in Outlook 2010 is only 20MB. Fortunately, with little tweaking we can increase this limit. However, one should keep in mind that attachment size limit also depends on the limits of the email service provider.

  • Tap the Start menu. Write regedit in the search field and press Enter to open the Registry Editor.
  • Browse to the following path in Registry Editor.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\Preferences

  • In the right panel of Preferences, right-click and click on New and select DWORD (32-bit) value.
  • Right-click the newly created key and select Rename.  Name it as maximumAttachmentSize.
  • Double click the newly created key to modify it. In the value data field, you can enter the number that specifies the attachment size limit. You can refer to following numbers.
  • 0= unlimited
  • 1048576 = 1 GB
  • 102400 = 100 MB
  • 51200 = 50 MB
  • 1024 = 1 MB
  • Press OK and close the registry editor.
