Remove Windows 7 OS from the Dual Boot Configuration

In dual boot configuration, there are two operating systems simultaneously installed in the computer system. Dual boot configuration is useful for testing the operating system. After testing, users may want to have a single OS. So here is the process which will explain you how to delete the Windows 7 dual boot configuration.

  • Boot in to the operating system other than Windows 7 or the original operating system that you have installed before windows 7 as a dual boot.
  • Go to Start Menu and write msconfig in the search box and hit the Enter key.
  • It will display the System Configuration window. Select the Boot tab.
  • Select the operating system you wish to keep and select the option of Set as Default.
  • Select the operating system (Windows 7) you wish to delete and press OK.
  • Delete the .VHD file of Windows 7.

This will remove all the traces of Windows 7 and you will be left with only original operating system.
