Caps lock is a useful key. But due to the alternative shift key, it is not used frequently. Windows 7 offers the user a way to disable the caps lock key. Here is the procedure following which you can disable the caps lock key.
Steps:
- Press Start menu button.
- Type regedit in search box and press Enter to open the Registry Editor
- In Registry Editor, navigate the following path:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout
- Right-click the key of Keyboard Layout and click on New. Select Binary Value from the context menu.
- Type Scancode Map in the field of Value Name.
- Now right-click the Scancode Map from the right panel of the Registry Editor and click on Modify.
- It will display the window of Edit Binary Value.
- Set the Value Data as 00000000 00000000 02000000 00003A00 00000000
- Press OK and reboot the computer.
