How to Avoid Taskbar Application Icons Grouping in Windows 7?

By default, Windows 7 combine the windows from same app in the form of a single icon on the taskbar. This feature is useful when you are using a single app. However, it seems a little annoying when you need to quickly browse between the windows. The following procedure can be used to fix this issue.

  • Right-click anywhere on the taskbar and click on Properties.
  • It will display the window containing Start menu and Taskbar properties.
  • Select the Taskbar tab.
  • Find the option of Taskbar Buttons. Here you will notice three options in the drop down menu. By default the option of “Always Combine, Hide Labels” is selected. Change this option to “Combine When Taskbar is Full” or “Never Combine”, whatever you want.

This will optimize your taskbar and enables you to utilize the taskbar more effectively.
