Minimize Windows Live Mail to the System Tray in Windows 7

Windows live mail is an application developed by Microsoft. It is a wonderful application used for managing calendars, contacts, newsgroups and feeds. In Windows Vista, there is an option that allows the users to minimize the Windows Live Mail to the system tray. This option proves very useful when Windows Live Mail is not in use. Windows 7 lack this option. Here is how we can induce this option in windows.

  • On the task bar, right-click on the Windows Live Mail icon and click on Properties.
  • Select the Compatibility tab in the window of Properties.
  • Check the option of Run This Program in Compatibility Mode For.
  • Find and select the option of Windows Vista (Service Pack) from the drop down menu.
  • Press OK.
  • Close the Windows Live Mail.
  • Now open the Live Mail Backup. You will notice the option of Hide Window When Minimized in the context menu of system tray. Check this option.

From now onwards, when minimized, the program will not appear on the taskbar. You can access it from the system tray.
