Sometimes you have notices that there is a lot of space that is occupied in windows 7. Few GB space is reserved for Hiberfill.sys. It is a function and hidden system file in Windows 7. Purpose of this function is to save your work and session when you turn off your PC. When you again turn on your PC, you will get your previous session.
Sleep mode is an alternative of hibernation. Now use of hibernation is much less because of sleep mode in Windows 7. Sleep mode takes only second to back up all files while Hibernate needs 30 to 60 seconds in order to perform the same task. So it is best option to remove Hibernation function from Windows. Follow these steps if you want to find and delete Hibernation from system to free hard drive space.
Steps:
- Open windows start orb. Write “folder options” and hit “Enter”.
- Select “View” tab from “Folder options” window. Select the box “Show hidden files, folders, and drives” under “Hidden files and folders” folder option and the unselect the option “Hide protected operating system files (Recommended). Select “OK” button.
- Now hyberfill.sys will appear in local disk C. to delete this file open start menu orb. Write “cmd” and press “Enter”. Command prompt window will appear.
- · Write “powercfg.exe –h off” and hit “Enter”.
- · Restart your computer in order to apply changes. Hyberfil.sys has been successfully removed from system.
