How to set Windows passwords using Windows Vault?

Microsoft has kept password protection for each of its services that may confuse user to memorize different pass codes for each. To remove this confusion, Microsoft introduces Windows Vault in Windows 7 in which a user can create a universal id and password. Although it may cause a security issue and user must aware of these prospects. Here is the process that will help you to set up credentials (Username & password):

Steps:

  • Go to Start Menu, type ‘windows vault’ in search field and press Enter.
  • Click on ‘Manage Windows credentials’ to open ‘Credential manager’.
  • Three options will appear, ‘Windows credentials (Used for Login)’, ‘Certificated based credentials (for Advanced Configuration)’ & ‘General credential (for different Applications, Program & Services)’.
  • Go to ‘Add a windows credential’ at Windows Credentials.
  • Enter Computer Name/Address (e.g. PC-1).
  • Enter your desired Username and Password.
  • Click ‘OK’ to save changes.
  • Go to ‘Edit’ if you need to change settings.

Settings Complete.
