PPTP is a protocol that works like Virtual Private Network (VPN) in order to connect networks remotely. You can create home network using PPTP. It also eliminates the requirements of VPN hardware and Network admin in order to connect to remote networks.
These steps will help you how to set up a PPTP host on your Windows 7 PC.
Steps:
- Open “Windows Start Orb”. Write “network connections” in search text field. Select “Network Connections” under program. “Network Connections” windows will appear.
- Select “File” tab and then “New Incoming Connection…”
- In next window select user account in order to permit to access network connection. You can also add a new user and then select
“Next” button. - Make the option “Through the Internet” check and then click on “Next” button.
- Check box the option “Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)” and then select “Properties”. Select the option “Allow callers to access my local area network” and then select the radio button “Assign IP addresses automatically using DHCP” and then click on “Allow Access” located on window behind this.
- Write “Router Network Address” in web browser. You will see router interface. Make enable all options in “PPTP pass-through” or “VPN ports”. You can set VPN setting manually from “port range forwarding”. Save all changes. Done!
