VPN is used to make network connection so that you can easily get SharePoint, files that are on sharing and many other things. Microsoft provides us VPN client and also VPN server in Windows 7. These steps will help you out to set up VPN client for windows 7 that is home based network.
Steps:
- Open “Windows start Orb”. Write “network” and click on option “Network and Sharing Center”.
- Select “Set up a new connection or network” located on right pane of window.
- Choose “Connect to a workplace” and move next. Here you need to select how you want to connect to network.
- Select the option “use my Internet connection (VPN)”. Write your WAN address in internet address and your desired name in “Destination name” text field and then check box the option “Don’t connect now; just set it up so I can connect later”. Press “next” button.
- Write username and password that was given by VPN host. Then click on “Create” and then “close” button.
- “Open Network and Sharing Center” window and select “Change Adapter setting”.
- Right click on “VPN Connection” located in right pane of window and then select “Properties” from menu list.
- Open “Security” tab. Select “Maximum strength encryption (disconnect if server declines)” under Data Encryption and then select both Chap check box if not already checked. Click “OK” button.
- Now connect your VPN connection by right click on “VPN Connection” and then connect. Happy! Your connection is now active.
