Most of computer user when see ctfmon.exe, they think it is virus. This is nothing but Microsoft process and runs when Microsoft word starts. Purpose of process is to check for input working for services and then help you in using handwriting recognition or speech recognition. Location of process in computer is C:\Windows\System32\ctfmon.exe
There is no need to run ctfmon when you are not running handwriting, speech writing or any other language bar. But ctfmon.exe still runs when you are not using these services. Secondly when you clean it from startup application, it will come again and startup.
To disable ctfmon.exe, you can adopt any of these two methods given below:
How to Disable ctfmon.exe from Region and language control panel:
- Open windows start orb. Write “language” in search field and click on “Region and Language” under control panel program.
- Click on “Keyboards and Languages” tab and then select “Change keyboards”.
- Text services and input language window will appear. Under “General” tab you will see list of installed services. Simply select and remove.
How to remove ctfmon.exe by unregister .dll files:
- Open command prompt and write two commands given below: Regsvr32.exe/umsimtf.dll and regsvr32.exe/umsctf.dll
- Open start orb, write msconfig” and hit “Enter.
- Select “Startup” tab from System Configuration window. Unselect “ctfmon” option from list, click “OK” and restart computer.
