Guide: Create a new User Account in Windows 7

If you are a new Windows 7 user and don’t know how to create a new account for other house members then you came to the right place. This article is for Windows 7 beginners that are new to this interface.

If your computer is shared between house members, it’s good to create individual use account for each person. Have a look below to create a new account and to review account types

User account types

There are three types of user accounts namely Administrator, Standard and Guest. Each account type has different controls on computer.

  • Administrator can make any desired setting and has a full control on PC.
  • Standard users can use almost all computer capabilities but they are not able to install any app, delete app or change any settings.
  • Guest users have temporary access over PC and they could not install or delete any app, create password or make any changes.

Add new user in Windows 7

  • Go to control panel and click on “Add or remove user accounts” that is located under “User Accounts and family Safety”.
  • Now click on “Create new account” at bottom of window.
  • Write user name in text field and choose account type. It is better to select “Standard user” radio button.
  • Click on “Create Account” button. Reboot your PC and you will see new user at login screen.
