Are you working on a public or shared computer and you wanted to specify programs for all users to use? You can do so in Windows 7 by customizing local group policy that lets you to run only specified programs.
These steps will guide you properly how you can allow users to run specific programs in Windows 7 operating system. Oh yes! One more thing, the process cannot be used in Windows 7 home versions. Have a look at below!
- Go to windows 7 start menu, type “gpedit.msc” and press “Enter”.
- From User Configuration label, select “Administrative Templates” and a new list will appear. Now click on “System” folder.
- From right window panel, scroll down and select “Run only specified Windows applications”.
- Check the radio button “Enabled” and click on “Show” button located under option heading.
- Show Contents dialog box will appear. To run apps for users, write applications name under values each on a single line and click “OK” button. For example, to run Firefox program for users, write FireFox.exe. Now if users try to open application that is not present in this list they will get restrictions message. This is really an excellent feature to stop users from accessing applications.
