If you are a Windows XP user and now you have moved towards Windows 7 then probably there are features that you are unaware or you don’t know how to use and where they are located. There are some sounds that you listen on different computer activities known as “System sounds”. By default these are added in all Windows operating system and so Windows 7 also has this feature.
For examples, when you turn on your PC, plug in or plug off any external device, lock your PC, turn off your PC or email your PC then you listen a specific sound. There are many other computer actions too that make different sounds and we call them system sounds. The question is where all these sound files are present? To know answer, go ahead.
- Open windows 7 start orb, write “C:\windows\media” in search box and hit “Enter”. This is the location of system sounds folder of your Windows 7.
- Media folder will opens up inside the Windows Explorer. Here you can see all the files and folders of custom and default sounds.
- Double click on any sound file and you will listen specific sound that you always listen while performing that specific action on your computer. All activities have different sound and most of files are with extension “.wav” or “.mid”. Windows 7 will open all files in default player.
