Disable Caps Lock Key functionality in Windows 7

It is very annoying when you are typing something and by mistakenly you press Caps lock so it is good choice to disable it. Both Windows 7 and Windows Vista allow you to remove this feature. There are two ways to disable this feature completely from Windows 7: you can add registry entry or use utility sharp keys.

Below you will see procedure of how to remove caps lock key with Registry editor.

Add Registry Editor

There is no default setting in windows to disable any key. By editing the registry, you can resolve your problem. Well! Go to start menu, type “regedit” and hit “Enter”. Explore the path given below from registry editor

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout

Now check the Scancode Map entry data. You will see different binary code to map the layout of keyboard. From here you can change the data in order to set the keys.

It is much difficult to edit the data because for that you must know inner working of keyboard. Below is the link where you can get file with scancode map entry with correct value to disable caps lock. Simply download and then extract the zipped file. Double click on registry file and then select the “Yes” button. Done! Restart your computer and caps lock key will be disabled
