Get Windows 7 final release

Microsoft has released Windows 7 final version on yesterday that is available for Microsoft subscribers. One problem that you will face with final release is upgrade from pre-versions is not possible directly. Windows 7 checks your current version. If you are using pre-release copy then it will stop you from making further upgrading and will show an error message. Here you will see the solution of this problem.

  • Edit Windows 7 DVD file which you will need to extract. Use 7 zip utility to extract file in case you are using ISO image for installation. If you are installing from DVD then copy all DVD files on hard drive. You can download 7 zip utility from this link: http://www.7-zip.org/
  • Go to “sources” folder and search “cversion.ini” file in it.
  • Open “cversion.ini” file, here you will see MinClient value is 7233.0 but Windows 7 RC is build 7100. Replace MinClient value to something less than the build you are using currently. You can write 7000 for RC release.
  • Run setup.exe file and click on “Install now”.
  • Select “Upgrade” from type of installation window.
  • If Compatibility Report Window appears, it will show you application that would not work after upgrade. If it does not show then happy.

Upgrade will start and installation progress will show in percentage. When 100 percent completes, you will get Windows 7 final release into your computer. Enjoy
