There are few applications that you open regularly when you turn on your PC. Live messenger is one of them. It seems to be optional to place it on to the taskbar. Well! You can place it on System tray of Windows 7 rather than task bar. Below steps will show you how to minimize the Windows Live messenger into the Windows 7 system tray. Have a look please.
Steps
- Open Windows start orb and write “live messenger” in search text field. Windows live messenger will appear under Program heading. Right click on it then select “Properties” from dropdown menu.
- Live messenger property window will appear. Select the “Compatibility” tab from menu.
- Check box the option “run this program in compatibility mode for:” and then click on the dropdown triangle shaped button. List of windows operating system will appear. Search for “Windows Vista (Service pack 2) from dropdown list and then select it. Click on “OK” button to apply changes that you have made.
That’s it! After performing above steps, icon for Windows live messenger will be displayed in system tray by making a mouse click on X that is located on top right side of application. Windows 7 offers a new icon namely “corral” that is used to rounds up those items that are unnecessary on system tray. You can also display Windows live messenger on system tray rather than hiding it in corral.
