Altering Pre Installed Names For Shortcuts

Whenever we install a program it is installed with the official name the company releases it with, you can view the name of the program from the programs menu in start menu. Sometimes the user wishes to rename the file to a name that he/she wishes the program to be named as. Renaming the program can be done if the user is familiar with the process but in most cases people are unfamiliar with how it is done. The procedure given below will help you get the hang of how to accomplish this task.

Renaming A Program Through Start Menu:

  • Go to Start Menu and in the search field, start entering the name of the program that you wish to change the name for.
  • Once the program that you have searched for appears in the searches, right click on it and select Properties and then in the properties dialog box, you would be able to spot the tab named General up there. Click on it.
  • The first field under the General tab would be the field that would have the name of the shortcut with it. Select the name written there and enter the name you wish to give your program. Once done, hit ok and exit.
  • Upon re visiting the Programs menu in Start menu, you would be able to see the program would have the modified name on it.
