Autocomplete is a tool which is used in internet explorer address bar for suggesting you words or text. When you type some website name or other words to search, it helps you in finding the most appropriate matches to entered text. You can turn Autocomplete on or off in internet explorer by following these steps.
- Open control panel, click on internet options. A window will appear where you will see content tab, click on it. Here, you will click on setting button under Autocomplete option. To turn it on, check address bar box, and click on ok. In advanced tab, you can check the Use inline AutoComplete in the Internet Explorer Address Bar and Open Dialog box. To turn it off, uncheck these boxes.
- ‘Turn_On_Internet_Explorer_Auto_Complete.reg’ is the file for turning on Autocomplete, and ‘Turn_Off_Internet_Explorer_Auto_Complete.reg’ file is used to turn it off. Save these files and run them to perform specific function.
- Third way is via registry editor, open it and go to this location’ HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\AutoComplete’, at right side of Autocomplete, double click on Append Completion. Type yes in appeared box to turn it on, and no for turning it off. Now close it and see the changes in internet explorer.
