If you cannot access to administrator account due to any reasons, you can go to built-in administrative account from safe mode. Sometimes you forgot or lost your account password, and you are out of password reset option too, this way you can access to build-in administrator account from winRE. These are the guidelines which will tell you how to enable built-in administrative account in Windows 7.
- This first method is only applicable to 32 bit systems, you will download ‘enableadmin.exe’ file and save it on desktop and unblock it.
- Open command prompt at boot, type diskpart and enter. Now type list volume in command prompt and enter it. Here you will take note for drive letter and exit, now type ‘cd /d <boot partition>:\Users\<your account name>\Desktop’ in command prompt and press enter, next you will type enableadmin and enter it, restart your computer and you can access to built in account and can change settings for other user accounts.
- The other way is through regedit, open command prompt and enter regedit, click on HKEY_LOCALE_MACHINE or HKEY_USERS, go to file and select load hive option.
- Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\config and open SAM file, type REM_SAM in box, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\REM_SAM\SAM\Domains\Accounts\Users00001F4 and double click on F, here replace 11 with 10 and close box and regedit, now you can log on to built-in account.
